It's 2:14 a.m. and your client's server has just gone down

You have five customers who need patching, three waiting for a security report, and one calling in panic in the middle of the night. Welcome to everyday life as an MSP. But does it have to be this way?

It's 02:14 and your customer's server has just gone down
8:50

It often starts the same way. An MSP grows, takes on more customers, adds more services. Suddenly, the team is left with seven different consoles open, three separate logins to manage endpoints, and a spreadsheet that no one really trusts to keep track of which customers have which level of protection. The tools that once sufficed have become a maze.

And in that maze, risks are hiding.

The complexity that no one planned for

Most MSPs (or MSSPs for that matter) didn't start with a master plan. They have solved problems in the order they appeared. First, an RMM solution. Then a separate antivirus tool. Then a helpdesk. Then a patch management solution that doesn't really talk to the other systems. Each new tool solved a specific problem - but also created a new one: fragmentation.

That fragmentation comes at a cost. Not just in license fees, but in time. Time your technicians spend jumping between systems instead of actually solving problems. Time you spend manually compiling reports instead of developing the business. Time that your customers notice, even if they don't always say so.

And then came NIS2 and the increased pressure on compliance. Suddenly, it's not enough to have protection that works - you need to be able to demonstrate that it works, document how it works and report when it doesn't. With seven separate tools that don't share data, this becomes a nightmare.

Two pieces of the puzzle that go together

There's a simple insight that changes the way successful MSPs think about their tools: IT management and cybersecurity are not separate disciplines. They are two sides of the same coin.

When you patch an endpoint, you're not just managing operations - you're closing a security gap. When you detect a threat on a customer's machine, you don't just need to know it's there - you need to be able to act, isolate and recover. That requires your systems to actually be connected.

This is where the combination of ManageEngine and WithSecure becomes interesting for MSPs who want to build an offering that lasts.

Everyday, but with control

Imagine it's Monday morning. You open a single console and see all your customers' endpoints - servers, workstations, mobiles - regardless of operating system. You see which ones need patching, which ones have vulnerabilities and which ones have tickets waiting. All in one interface, with clear customer separation.

That's exactly what ManageEngine's MSP suite offers. Endpoint Central MSP gives you a multi-tenant platform to manage, patch and secure endpoints at all your customers from one place. Combine that with ServiceDesk Plus MSP for ticketing, and you have a cohesive operational base that your team can actually work effectively in.

The key elements of such an approach are about getting the basics right: patch management that rolls automatically and covers both OS and third-party applications, vulnerability scanning that identifies risks before they become incidents, unified management whether the customer is running Windows, macOS or Linux, and ticketing with SLA tracking that gives you data to show to customers.

And for MSPs dealing with customers with higher security requirements, there are two more tools that make a real difference. PAM360 MSP gives you centralized control over privileged accounts across all your customers - who has access to what, when and why. In a world where compromised administrator accounts are one of the most common avenues of attack, it's not a luxury, it's a necessity. Log360 MSSP gives you a complete, multi-tenant SIEM solution - with centralized log management, real-time threat detection, and the kind of compliance reporting your customers will demand as NIS2 and cybersecurity laws tighten requirements.

But operations, management and logging are only one side. You also need cyber protection to match.

Security that scales with the business

WithSecure Elements is built for MSPs from the ground up. It's not an enterprise solution that's been customized after the fact - it's a platform with multi-tenant architecture, flexible protection plans, and a model where you pay for what you actually use.

What sets WithSecure apart from many other security providers is its Co-Security model. Instead of just delivering a platform and leaving the rest to you, WithSecure steps in as an extension of your team - with a dedicated Technical Service Manager, structured skills development via the Partner Academy, and hands-on support all the way from marketing to technical implementation.

That's a key differentiator for MSPs with limited resources. You don't need to build your own SOC to offer professional security. WithSecure can handle the heavy security work - from AI-driven threat detection and EDR to exposure management and incident response - while your team focuses on customer relationships.

What's more, the platform integrates with the RMM and PSA tools most MSPs already use, like ConnectWise, Datto, and N-able. This means you don't have to rebuild your tool stack - you add to it.

Compliance without the headache

With NIS2 and the Swedish implementation via the Cybersecurity Act, the requirements for documentation and compliance have become much stricter. Your customers expect you as an MSP not only to protect them, but also to demonstrate how that protection works and help them meet regulatory requirements.

This is one of the areas where the combination of ManageEngine and WithSecure really pays off. ManageEngine's tools give you the operational data: patch status, vulnerability reports, change logs and asset summaries. Log360 MSSP gives you the centralized log management and compliance reporting required by regulations. PAM360 MSP gives you full traceability of privileged access - you see exactly who accessed which systems, when and for what purpose. And WithSecure Elements MSP completes the security picture: threat detection, protection status, incident reports and risk analysis.

Together, they provide you with the data you need to help your customers comply - without spending hours manually compiling information from different systems.

A solid foundation to grow your MSP offering

There's a trap many MSPs fall into: choosing tools based on what solves today's problems, without thinking about what happens when the customer base doubles. Platforms that don't scale, licensing models that become prohibitively expensive as you grow, tools that require more and more manual work the more customers you bring in.

Both ManageEngine and WithSecure have licensing models designed for MSPs. You pay for what you use, you can scale up and down as needed, and you don't have to deal with traditional volume thresholds that cause costs to suddenly skyrocket.

But above all, it's about building an offering that your customers actually trust. An MSP that can demonstrate that patches are rolling, vulnerabilities are being proactively managed, protection is being monitored 24/7, and compliance requirements are being met - that's an MSP that retains customers and attracts new ones.

Start with what makes the most difference

You don't have to change everything at once. The best way to get started is to identify where the biggest friction is today. Some examples:

  • Is patch management eating up the most time and resources? Start there - with Endpoint Central MSP, you get automated, centralized patching that scales with each new customer.

  • Is it security that feels insufficient or difficult to scale to more customers? WithSecure Elements gives you a cohesive, multi-tenant platform for modern, scalable protection.

  • Do you lack visibility and control over privileged accounts? PAM360 MSP gives you centralized control.

  • Need a SIEM solution that can handle multiple customers without becoming unmanageable? Log360 MSSP is built for just that.

  • Is it case management that lacks structure? With ServiceDesk Plus MSP, you get a coherent platform that creates order, traceability and clear SLAs in all customer work.

The point is that the tools are modular. You can start where you need it most and build as you go. And with Inuit as a partner, you have a local point of contact who can help you evaluate, implement and optimize - with technical expertise and understanding of the Nordic market.

The 02:14 bell will still come. But with the right tools, you don't have to be the one to wake up.
